Soil Testing Services

Is a company operating in Swaziland, principally involved in the testing of materials for the Civil engineering and building industries. It carries out testing commercially for the requirements of contractors and consulting engineers, and undertakes a broad range of tests for general design and construction purposes. It operates from premises in North Street, Mbabane. The laboratory is staffed by trained technicians who have gained a wide range of experience with the materials, which are locally available. Where required, input is available from engineers and geotechnicians for interpretation of results. The company has been in operation for 14years, following a further 10 years under its previous name.

The laboratory is capable of carrying out field, analytical and comparative tests on soils and road and building materials. These include compressive strengths of bricks and blocks, California Bearing Ratios and Unconfined Compressive Strength tests on natural and stabilised materials, sieve analyses, Atterburg Limits, stabiliser contents, moisture contents and aggregate crushing values. Field tests include foundation investigations, Auger holes, Dynamic Cone Penetrometer tests, percolation tests and shear vane tests. Other tests are carried out upon request. The laboratory is staffed by trained technicians who have gained a wide range of experience with the materials which are locally available.

Equipment is available to carry out the tests mentioned above as well as many other tests that are requested.

• LUSIP II for Swaziland Agricultural Development Enterprise - (Foundation Indicators, MDD, CBR, Atterberg Limits Protor).

• St. Phillips for Aurecon Consulting Engineers - (Foundation Indicators MDD, CBR, Atterberg Limits, Protor).

• Ezulwini Roads – Site Investigation for several roads (Trial Pit, Soil Profiling, DCP, CBR, PI, RI, MDD).
