Bicon (Swaziland) is a multidisciplinary Consulting Engineering firm, which operates in the Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, and Project Management disciplines.
Bicon has provided technical assistance to various Government Departments, Parastatal organisations and Private companies in these disciplines.
Bicon (Swaziland) came into existence at the beginning of 1990 when the ongoing commitments of an existing consulting engineering firm, which had been operating in Swaziland for 14 years, were taken over.
Bicon (Swaziland) has a complement of 22 people, ranging from professional to administrative staff. Computer resources are available in the office for design, drawing and documentation as well as general administration.
The Company is a member of the South African Association of Consulting Engineers (SAACE) and abides by, and subscribes to, its rules and regulations.
General Experience
Bicon (Swaziland) has built up expertise in a number of fields over the years and is presently carrying out projects in the roads, infrastructure, civil, structural, building, and electrical and industrial sectors. Individuals within the firm have particular local experience in specialist fields, which include roads, railways, townships, contract management and arbitration procedures, project management and foundation investigation, electrical reticulation and energy management, among others.
Office Facilities
Bicon operates from a property in Mbabane that is owned by the company. The office is fully computerized. Facilities allow for design and drafting of all projects as well as other peripheral matters to be carried out in-house. There is a large and varied amount of computer hardware and software in use within the office, all of which is regularly updated and upgraded. The software varies from the programmes used for road layouts, township services, structural design through to word processing programmes and graphic presentations. Project management systems are also in place. Telephone, telefax, e-mail, scanning, printing and photocopying facilities are available as well as general secretarial services.
Land and Electrical Survey equipment is available in the office, which enables surveys of differing magnitudes to be carried out.
